CO-TUTELLE
The international joint supervision of thesis is part of the international policy of research units and the Bologna process. It is representative of international scientific cooperation.
Principle : The doctoral student registers for a thesis both at the University of Burgundy and at a foreign university. A nominative agreement is established between the two Universities, it must in particular provide for the place of payment of registration fees, a calendar of stays, the place and language of the defense, the composition of the jury.
To be enforceable, the agreement must be signed by all parties involved (the two university presidents, the head(s) of the doctoral school, the two thesis supervisors and the doctoral student) during the first year of ‘registration.
This procedure makes it possible to obtain a doctor’s degree issued simultaneously by each of the establishments after a single defence.
