Lecturers, EPST research managers and EPIC and EPST engineers, who are not authorized to direct research, must request authorization in order to be able to co-direct a doctoral student registered at UBFC, under the responsibility of a colleague authorized to direct. researches.

Other personalities (not belonging to higher education establishments, public research organizations or research foundations), holders of a doctorate, wishing to direct or co-direct theses must follow the procedure below (paragraph 2 of chapter 16 of the order of May 25, 2016, consolidated by the order of July 1, 2016).

This internal procedure also meets one of the regulatory conditions for registration for the Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR). Article 4 of the ministerial decree of November 23, 1988 specifies that the file must show the experience of the candidate in the animation of research.

Each ED defines the maximum number of simultaneous co-directions without HDR by the same person as well as the total number of co-directions, since September 1, 2016 (date of entry into force of the decree of May 25, 2016).

Article 11 ED ES regulations – excerpt: “….In order to encourage HDR defenses rather than the multiplication of co-supervisions, the ED ES considers that from the completion of 3 thesis co-directions , successful … HDR must be supported. …..In addition, a thesis co-supervisor without HDR cannot co-supervise more than 2 theses simultaneously. “   The request for co-direction authorization must be submitted to the Doctoral School (ED) to which the research unit is attached and must include:

–    the request form for co-supervision without HDR (doc) ;

–      a CV ;

–      the list of the applicant’s work.

The request is examined by the president of UBFC, who decides on a proposal from the director of the ED and after consulting the CAC restricted to HDR holders.

This authorization is required for each new co-direction..
