Insofar as the annual budget allows, an amount of 1 500€ is available for each doctoral student (in several installments) during their first three years of thesis in order to participate in one or more international conferences, or to travel. in a foreign laboratory for research purposes and 500 € for training.

Access to the “mobility-training” grant is conditional on the doctoral student’s participation in the Forum des Jeunes Chercheurs (FJC) organized by the ED E-S.

The allocation of the “mobility-training” grant will not be systematic. Aid will be granted on request, after examination of the file.

The mobility-training grant includes a :

  • Mobility section: the ceiling for “colloquium” aid for an oral or poster presentation at a congress is conditioned by the place of travel, i.e. 300 € in France, 500 € in Europe, 1000 € outside Europe.

The ceiling for “research stay” aid for technical training or an internship is set at 1 000€ per application; a maximum amount of 1 000€ is available per year.

The request is to be made during the ED E-S mobility grant calls which will take place three times a year.

Applications will be reviewed by one of the doctoral students elected to the ED board and one of the researchers’ representatives (who is usually a member of the ED management).

Doctoral students covered by a joint supervision agreement are encouraged to move between the French laboratory attached to the ED E-S and the foreign laboratory, in the form of financial support for mobility in the amount of 500€ on the entire thesis, and additional to the support mentioned above. This scholarship is also awarded on request, after examination of the file by one of the students elected to the board of the ED and one of the representatives of the researchers.

  • Training component : aid of up to 500€, during the first three years of the thesis, is available to contribute to the registration fees for training courses. A prior request to the direction of the ED must be made indicating the content of the training, its hourly volume and its interest in relation to the doctoral student’s project. Depending on the hourly volume, all or part of the hours may be validated in “out of catalog” training. The request is taken into account “on the fly”.

Process for accessing animal experimentation designer training with commitment letter (pdf)

Engagement letter (pdf)

In order to access the training of designer of animal experimentation, the Doctoral School Environments-Health of the UBFC has defined the following selection procedure :

  • The training is open in priority to doctoral students enrolled in the first year of their doctorate. Doctoral students enrolled in the 2nd or 3rd year will only be able to access the training if the number of requests from 1st year doctoral students is less than the maximum capacity for the training (i.e. 10 doctoral students per year).
  • Doctoral students must write a short “Pathways and Experiences” document (2 pages maximum) which will include: i/ a synthetic part detailing the curriculum vitae (CV), ii/ a brief description of their past experiences in animal experimentation and animal experiments they have scheduled for their doctorate, and iii/ a letter of commitment to participate in the Young Researchers Forum if they have not yet presented their work at this event. Experimental planning will adhere to the 3Rs rule, Reduction, Replacement and Refinement of experiments[1].
  • Training requests accompanied by the document “Pathways and Experiences” will be grouped by research unit and submitted to the unit director who will give an opinion and establish a classification of the requests. The unit management (and not the doctoral student) will send its opinions and its classification to the ED-ES at the following address : christelle.barbier@u-bourgogne.fr
  • The doctoral student will complete the document entitled « letter of commitment to follow the training in its entirety » and will commit to this. In the event of non-compliance with his commitment, sanctions will be put in place and will lead to a total freezing of his access to the mobility-training grant (see last paragraph). A withdrawal at the last moment[2] will only be accepted if the incapacity for work is justified by a work stoppage issued by a doctor. Access to the final exam (written and oral) will only be possible if all the lessons have been followed.
  • The ED-ES secretariat will inform all doctoral students by email of the call for “designer training in animal experimentation” and will indicate the deadline for submitting applications each year. It will centralize training requests (documents: Background and experiences and signed letter of commitment) as well as the rankings of unit directors. Requests will be collected at the following address : christelle.barbier@u-bourgogne.fr
  • The person in charge of training will establish a selection of the ten doctoral students selected after studying the documents transmitted, the rankings of the unit directors and the pressure of requests by research unit.
  • The ED-ES will send doctoral students the list of people selected for training and those on the waiting list. Only successful candidates on the main list will need to register for this training via Adum. A withdrawal, announced at least one month before the start of the training, will make it possible to offer access to this training to a person on the waiting list.
  • Failure to comply with the commitment will lead the ED-ES to sanctions. These sanctions consist of the suspension of all financial support until the end of the doctorate: mobility grants and training aid will no longer be issued by the ED-ES. The cost of the training is around 1500 €; a preferential rate was obtained for the training of ED-ES doctoral students and is fully covered by the ED-ES budget.
