SUMMER SCHOOL on “Music & the brain – from research to clinical and societal impact”
Pavia, Italy: June 22-26, 2026
https://www.musicandbrainsummerschool.musicognitionlab.com/
Music is a window into how the brain thinks, feels, and heals. The Music & the Brain Summer School explores the fascinating intersection of neuroscience and music, an increasingly interdisciplinary field that connects fundamental research with real-world applications.
The program welcomes undergraduate and PhD students, as well as early-career researchers and professionals interested in understanding how music shapes cognition, emotion, and behavior. Participants will explore the neural mechanisms underlying music perception, movement, emotion, and social cognition. They will gain hands-on experience with neuroimaging techniques, learn from clinicians applying music-based interventions in neurological and psychiatric contexts, and engage in interactive discussions with leading experts in the field.
Set in the beautiful city of Pavia and hosted by one of the oldest universities in Europe, the summer school also offers a platform for international collaboration, fostering new academic exchanges and research partnerships.
Students from Université Bourgogne Europe are eligible for financial support through the Erasmus+ BIP program. You will first submit your application on the summer school website, then get further information and will then submit your dossier to the office at UBE. Erasmus BIP+ will cover inscription fees together with travel and daily allowance (see https://www.ube.fr/international-forthem/mobilite-etudiante/aides-financieres/). Note also that the program includes free 3 lunches, 1 apéro-dinatoire, 1 diner, and that UBE has also other additional stipends available for other cases, see website above.
Erasmus BIP students will also participate in additional online classes before and after the summer school week (18/06 and 30/06).
